It would be too easy to dismiss this as standard indie fodder as repeated listens reveal new layers each time. The Hair have toured like Bob Hope in wartime playing support to many bands with whom they could be on equal billing in the near future including The Maccabees, The Longcut and Mumm-Ra and even put in an appearance at last years Reading Festival.
“She said you’re never gonna amount to much” go the lyrics for the quirky full pelt A-side Ghosts; this hopefully isn’t true of the band themselves. Describing their sound as new-wave danceable punk funk is a bit of a mouthful but this is infectious and not too tapered to the mainstream a la The Automatic et al.
B-side Left Foot Right Foot is in a similar vein but rocks that bit harder where it can and suggests they’d be a great live act. This Leeds-based fourpiece act’s release marks the first for Cool For Cats Records, the new offshoot of Fierce Panda.
