Cha-Cha
We are... Pop Noodle

Article written by Paul M - Jun 21, 2010

Cha Cha - We are
Cha Cha - We are
The cha cha is a form of ballroom dancing but the boys in the band of that name won’t be troubling Brucie Forsythe or Tess Daly any time soon with their very-noughties ‘We are…’ debut. That’s not to say that there are not plenty of opportunities to throw some shapes. Apparently all these tracks started as acoustic numbers but with layers of instrumentation added, including crucially synth percussion, the outcome is a disco friendly collection of indie numbers. Despite their London origins, it all definitely owes more to Brooklyn and Las Vegas than Brixton and Leyton. With the afrobeat nods to Vampire Weekend and camp pop rock winks towards the Killers, what it lacks in originality it makes up for in fun and catchy hooks with Juicy Lucy and the Fellowship even getting these tired old limbs shuffling in an ungainly manner.
