Emily Breezes - no ifs, lots of butts.

Originality was never at the top of the list of the things you need to be a great rock n’ roller. Emily Breeze’s influences are worn tattooed where her sleeves might otherwise be. And she has all the sultry attitude and rock solid ability to form them into her own swaggering rock ‘n roll and dark country circus show.

So you can hear everything from Hank Williams to PJ Harvey via the Cramps and Cave in there, but it does nothing to diminish the sheer enjoyment to be gained from the old fashioned arse-shaking tunes and their dark-browed slower counterparts. The really surprising thing is the relative youth of the band. There’s a polish missing from many of their counterparts. They sound fully formed - booze-soaked and nicotine-tanned, most especially Breeze’s voice which can purr from a whisper to a holler to wonderful effect. It’s as if they’ve been living years of the rock ‘n roll life themselves, rather than vicariously through the records of others.

So well worth your time - and I’m betting they sound even better live….
