The press release seems to think “bombast” is a good thing, which of course is only true if you like to play air guitar when you’re not waving your lighter in some enormodome. This release from three Mancunians is a mix of Muse-like pomp-rock with a touch of Soundgarden grunge and the odd nod to assymetrical post-rock (‘Here We Are’) but turns out to be painfully repetitive stretched over an hour of music. ‘Fucker’ stands out for being about something, in this case child abuse, and the single ‘History’ is energetic, catchy heavy rock that could go a round or three with Queens Of The Stone Age. It’s in a clear rock tradition so Kerrang! are probably creaming over this (a Kerrang fashion editor writes: black is so good for disguising accidents…)
