Love Is All
A Hundred Things Keep Me Up At Night What’s Your Rupture?

Article written by Ged M - May 5, 2009

Love Is All: A Hundred Things Keep Me Up All Night
Love Is All: A Hundred Things Keep Me Up All Night
Love Is All’s second album is shot though with a restless energy that makes the 11 songs fly by in a blur of bouncy, melodic indie-punk in just 32 minutes. ‘Wishing Well’ is worth the price of admission on its own, a speeding bullet of sugar coated indiepop, backed by a wowsy carnival organ that adds to the sense of celebration, while ‘New Beginnings’ tumbles over itself like a puppy that’s discovered its owner’s stash of speed, in a whirl of frantic indiepop and honking saxophone. The cosmological concerns that hold off sleep in ‘Big Bangs, Black Holes, Meteorites’ are defused with humour and soaring garage-rock while Love Is All show off their slower and more considered side with ‘Last Choice’, a tale of settling for what’s left at a party (“for tonight you’ll have to do”).

This album came out in the US ages ago and has taken its time to reach the UK but it’s been worth the wait. A Hundred Things Keep Me Up At Night is better produced than the debut album but has the same charm, and the eccentric indiepop sound, that’s not quite like other pop, is dangerously addictive.
