BSP will play a full, amplified set, previewing their new album Do You Like Rock Music? which is released on 14th January.
British Sea Power's 'Waving Flags' single is intended as an optimistic, euphoric celebration of pan-European unity. The band's new album was mixed and completed over three weeks at Sono Records studios in the Czech Republic, working with Czech recording engineers in a beautiful location by the forests of the Krivoklatsko Biosphere Reserve. "We had a wonderful time in the Czech Republic," says BSP frontman Yan. "We hope that anyone arriving in the UK from Central and Eastern Europe has a wonderful time here."
As Einstein says in the PR blurb, "Nationalism is an infantile disease... the measles of mankind." In opposition to the Little Englander's besieged mindset, 'Waving Flags' rolls out a lyrical red carpet to Slavia Prague FC, the 1933 Czech film Ecstasy and visitors arriving from other lands. Welcome, then, to the New Year and the New Europe.
The concert will be attended by invited guests and competition winners.
Waving Flags in released on Rough Trade Records on 7th January 2008.
