Black Tambourine ready to shake again

Article written by Paul M - Feb 9, 2012

Black Tambourine are looking for backers to help them out with playing some reunion shows in Washington DC and NYC at the beginning of April as part of the Chickfactor magazine 20th anniversary parties, and to release a newly recorded double-seven inch made by all four original members of the band.

This what the band said on Kickstarter, the site that helps projects find funds:

The four of us haven't played a live show together in 21 years! And while Archie and Brian still live in the DC metro area, Mike now lives in California and Pam lives across the drink in London. We're trying to raise money to cover flights for the far-flung among us and travel to/accommodation in the towns we don't live in. We also thought that in the run-up to playing again it would be a great time to do some more recording and are hopeful of getting funding to help out with the manufacture and release of the OneTwoThreeFour EP on Slumberland Records, consisting of four of our fave Ramones songs on two slabs of lovely seven-inch vinyl, packaged in a lovely sleeve designed by the talented Matthew Edwards.

We're very grateful for your help to meet these costs, it will mean a lot to us to be able to see each other again, play some old songs, record some new ones and put a new record out. Thanks for taking the time to read this and for backing us if you can!

A little more about OneTwoThreeFour: The Ramones are one of our all-time favorite bands, so when we decided to make a record to help support this project we just knew that it made perfect sense to pay tribute to a huge influence on Black Tambourine. While the recordings are still in progress, we're super happy with how they're sounding and we think we definitely put the BT stamp on the songs. And to make it even more special, we've enlisted some old friends and special guests to help out on vocals: Linda Smith, Rose Melberg, Dee Dee from Dum Dum Girls, and Jenny Robbins (from the wonderful band Honeymoon Diary). And don't forget, as a Kickstarter backer you'll also get a unique color vinyl version of the EP that will be unavailable elsewhere.

For more information about the shows check out Chickfactor. You can buy tickets for our DC show here. We couldn't be any more excited; getting to not only see, but play with, great old friends like Small Factory, HoneyBunch, Lilys, Lorelei, The Aislers Set and all the others is a truly amazing experience, and we really appreciate your help in making it happen for us.
