Dig deep for the kids

Article written by Paul M

Doing it for the Kids 2008
A sixty six track comp (yes, that's SIXTY SIX bands) has been released and it's all for charideeeeee. Doing It For The Kids 2008, inspired by the legendary 16-tracks-for-99p Creation compilation, has had the seal of approval from Alan McGee himself.

Hotly-tipped new unsigned acts rub shoulders with the likes of leading UK troubadour Ed Harcourt on the album. Among those involved are Jim Jasmine, a contributor to the original low-price record with his band Jasmine Minks, and Alex Lowe, leader of Garage Flowers and formerly the frontman with late-‘90s Creation signings Hurricane #1.

Among the other well-known names included are The Coal Porters, Popup, Kim Edgar and Roddy Hart, veteran folk rockers The River Detectives and former Times eccentric Ed Ball.

The treble CD will be limited to 266 copies, each of which will be individually auctioned for Yorkhill Children's Hospital in Glasgow.

However, the whole thing is available now for download for just £6.49 (all proceeds to charity again) from Resonance Store (see link below). You can also "try before you buy" and hear low-res versions of all the tracks there.
