Hooky to play Unknown Pleasures at 1234 Festival

Following last week’s announcement of rock supergroup The Silver Machine (consisting of members from Primal Scream, Sex Pistols and Oasis) being added to the lineup, THE 1234 Festival confirmed another member of rock royalty - Joy Division and New Order bassist, Peter Hook. He will be performing Joy Division’s seminal 1979 debut album, Unknown Pleasures, live and exclusive for London’s shindig THE1234 SHOREDITCH.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the death of late single Ian Curtis, “Hooky” was joined by a host of guests on May 18th at the newly refurbished former Factory Records site FAC251 in Manchester to perform the classic album in full. For those that didn’t get a chance to catch him there or on his recent “Evening of Unknown Pleasures” tour, he will now be performing this important work exclusively for The 1234 festival. He commented, "London became Joy Division's second home, we played there more than Manchester, more than anywhere else in the world! I'm delighted to be playing Unknown Pleasures for the second time in our second home! The only time and the only place I will be playing it in England."

Festival director Sean Mclusky commented “I heard a rumour that Peter Hook had performed his seminal Joy Division album Unknown Pleasures in its entirety in Manchester a few weeks ago, he was playing with his band The Light at the new FACTORY club on the anniversary of Ian Curtis’ death. I had to have this for THE1234 as an exclusive London show. And we have! I mean I know people in Shoreditch that have the cover of UNKNOWN PLEASURES tattooed on their bodies!”
