Little sphinxes! Fair ohs unveil spin-off releases

Article written by Paul M - Feb 17, 2012

fair ohs
Fans of the Fair Ohs (and we certainly are) will wish to check out their spin off label, Suplex Cassettes. It has two new tapes dropping in February 2012, musically miles apart, but both connected by a common band.

The first is a 4 Song EP by Les Pharaons aka Eddy from the Fair Ohs. It is four songs sung in French that evokes the spirit of the French YeYe music from the 60s like Francoise Hardy and France Gall that he grew up listening to whilst nodding towards psychedelic wig outs, nestled in between summery garage pop nuggets. If you were a fan of Fair Ohs cover of the Brigitte Bardot classic 'La Madrague' from their Eden Rock 7", you will love this tape.

Tracks:

1. Amandine
2. Anais
3. Gourmette
4. Kosma

You can listen to or download 'Amandine' for free here:

Another EP by a spin off Fair Ohs act is High Hopes, featuring Joe Ryan and he has an EP out on the label titled There's Nothing We Can't Fix.

As a young man growing up in the garden of England, Joe shared an equal love for punk/hardcore/metal as for the synth driven 80s Soul that came from his parents stereo. High Hopes is his first solo excursion into this world of sex, synths and soul. To someone who is new to this music, it leans towards the modern stylings of John Maus and Ariel Pink mixed in with the obvious love of Jam & Lewis and SOS Band. Skewed synth pop love songs for lovers.

Tracks:

- There's Nothing We Can't Fix
- Saturdays
- We're In This Together
- Said Too Much
- Dirty Word
