Strawberry Whiplash

It's been a quiet 2011 for US label Matinee Recordings but they are ending the year in some style.

First up there is news of two new releases. The first is from the Rickenbacker inspired indie-pop enthusiasts Strawberry Whiplash and their new 7" single Stop, Look And Listen which is limited to 500 copies on transparent red vinyl.

The second release is from Tobias Isaksson's new project Azure Blue. The former Laurel Music and Irene member has released a 1980's synthpop inspired album entitled Rule Of Thirds so if the likes of New Order and OMD are your thing give it a listen.

The label have made available a free download from each release.

Finally the label are running a special Christmas Matinée advent calender which sees the release of a free mp3 leading up to Christmas day. The label promises that the downloads will be a "mix of holiday hymns, winter warmers, and other top tunes from your favourite Matinée artists will be on offer." These downloads will include some unreleased tracks too.
