Man has van. Another man borrows van. In shitty UK weather man prangs van. Insurance man say no cash for van as it’s only third party insurance and no one else was involved. Man left with massive repair bill he can’t pay. Man panics!
That’s where everyone else comes in. The crashee is an indie artiste and the crashed-van owners are the wonderful North London folk-punksters Captain Black. So, this Bank Holiday Monday (24 March) at Nambucca there’s an all day event, running from midday till 10pm to raise money for the repair and rehabilitation of the van: they’re calling it “Van Aid”. You might think that’s a bit trivial but the van is central to British music traditions – where would music have got to without a fleet of dirty stale-smelling wagons transporting flatulent, drunken musicians clutching Ginsters pasties the length and breadth of these islands and beyond? So this is for more than repairing Captain Black's van; this is to help the workhorse of British music!
All the bands and artists are playing for free, and all proceeds will go towards paying for the repairs of the Van. The full line up (3 stages, Main Stage /Acoustic Stage / Piano Stage) and stage times are:
