‘David Cassidy’ is a brilliant blast of garage rock, charting the darkside of suburban teen crushes (“Los Angeles is a long way from Ruislip”). With its mentions of masturbation, however, this isn’t a pure love, although the dirty guitar riffs are offset by the sweetest harmonies. And the quality doesn’t drop when you flip the single; the thrashing surf-punk rhythms of ‘Plastic’ is just as good.
