Cloud Control: Gold Canary

Like a cross between Cold War Kids and Vampire Weekend, Australians Cloud Control mix edgy indie with a broader "world" feel to excellent effect on 'Gold Canary'. Alister Wright's spiky vocals are complemented and caressed by a backing of voices in harmony that is distinctly Southern African in inspiration. It's both fresh sounding and completely captivating. And even if flipside ‘Vintage Books’ is more conventionally indie, the mix of chirpy guitars and bubbling keyboards is a memorable match. An emerging talent, we expect to hear more of them.
