Radiant Door EP Sacred Bones

In which we encounter a different side to Crystal Stilts… Kyle Forrester’s organ, in finest Music Machine and Seeds tradition,sounds more prominent now, either as a mighty drone on their cover of the Blue Orchid’s ‘Low Profile’ or as a driving wail on the stomping psych-poppy ‘Dark Eyes’ (the label claims it’s their best song to date and it’s hard to argue). That’s not to relegate the guitars though; JB Townsend has his moment with the surf-rock title track and the reverby, funereal riff on the desert-dry version of Lee Hazelwood’s ‘Still As the Night’. What comes to mind most is that this EP shares the same sense of fun and freedom as their Cinema Red and Blue project, which makes this different from the preceding albums but no less listenable.
