Cults: Go Outside

The web-unfriendly name of Cults doesn’t reveal a lot of information about the band other that they’re two New York film students (boy/girl) but their debut single (on a new label created by the Gorilla vs Bear blog) is gorgeous dreampop. 'Go Outside' is all about escaping from life, and floats along in quite a Scandopop style on upcurrents of tinkling glockenspiel, warm organ and meandering bassline, but it has a sharper edge too in the sampling of the Rev Jim Jones (the Jonestown Kool-Aid guy) that kicks things off. 'Most Wanted', meanwhile, is sumptuous sixties girl-pop. Super limited in vinyl form but take your cue from the b-side title and acquire.
