Dean & Britta: I’ll Keep It With Mine
The ex-Luna pair were asked to write music by the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh to accompany some of Warhol’s screen tests of 60s icons; that commission has now been formally released as the album 13 Most Beautiful, from which these two pieces are taken. Simple backing is all that’s needed for their treatment of Dylan’s ‘I’ll Keep It With Mine’, used for Nico’s screen test; Britta’s amazing, plaintive voice does the rest. ‘It Don’t Rain In Beverly Hills’, scored for Edie Sedgwick’s test, is more like Dean & Britta’s drone pop default, a very dreamy late night sound with washes of synths and appropriate lyrics: “the pain never washes away”. Excellent stuff in the grooves and around them; this package is brilliantly presented by The Great Pop Supplement in an edition of 500 with a photo booklet of the band in performance, backed by huge images of the stars.
