Firestations
Meanwhile Gardens EP self-release

Firestations are a London trio whose second EP comprises four songs of sashaying summery indiepop with an electronica garnish. ‘Tightrope’ has the inventiveness and mutated pop DNA of ‘Sparklehorse’ while the easy rock’n’roll groove of ‘Dream in Colour’ best resembles Herman Düne (especially early ‘Switzerland Heritage’ Düne). But there’s also something cool and world weary in Michael Cranny’s vocals that puts you in mind of Tunng, best heard against the plaintive guitar jangles and glitchpop buzzes of ‘Sink In’. If you like the sort of British bands who absorbed American influences in an idiosyncratic way (Tunng and Broken Family Band, to name but two),Firestations are worth exploring.
