Midnight Lion

Midnight Lion are a duo who hail from Glasgow and ‘All Greatness Stands Firm’ is their debut release. I must keep this in mind, for there is definite room for improvement.

It’s not a bad single but there is nothing here that makes me want to play it again. Some musicians are musical innovators and some are musical replicators. This band is the latter.

‘All Greatness Stands Firm’ is reminiscent of what the likes of Simple Minds were doing in the 1980s to me. I do not want to go back to that sound. I never really wanted to go there in the first place. The B side ‘Plastic’ is a more sentimental piece with an accompanying piano which has its ‘powerful’ pop moments.

If Midnight Lion want to be the kings of the musical jungle they are going to have to roar a little louder than this to get my attention.
