‘Little Joanne’ is from My Sad Captains’ latest album and it’s a Pavement-ish peach of a song; you’re drawn in by a seductive guitar riff and then you drown in its innocent-sounding, melodic and melancholy janglefest. It sounds effortless and very, very good. “H Hawkline” is the name that Huw Evans, an S4C music TV presenter goes under and, for a faceman, he’s surprisingly good as befits someone who has played with Cate Le Bon and Sweet Baboo. ‘You Say You Love Me’ is a maudlin, baroque-folk tale to put you in mind of Euros Child, which is catchily hypnotic before it gets very psychedelic. The single is limited to 150 of each of two hand-screened art sleeves, and is well worth securing both for the music and the art.
