Everything Is

To accompany both a few rare live dates and a reissue of On Avery Island, Neutral Milk Hotel's debut single Everything Is returns to try to remind us why the band had such a cult following back in the mid to late 90s. A languid, fuzzy slacker effort, it's ok but it pales into insignificance alongside the band's other material, particularly 1998's stupendous In the Aeroplane Over the Sea LP. Everything Is was originally available via an EP and one of the other tracks from its first incarnation, Snow Songs Pt1, is also the b-side here though that really is little more than a little lo-fi sampling mess about. All in all, probably best save your fiver and hunt down the two albums.
