Pageants
Musings of the Tide Eye Dull Records 7"

Article written by Ged M - Feb 20, 2013

Pageants is the new project of Rebecca Coleman, ex- of Long Beach’s Avi Buffalo and, if the first single is any indication, this is the last time we might have to reference her by her previous band. With Devin O’Brien (guitar) and Dylan Wood (drums) she’s made ‘Musings of the Tide’, a gorgeous example of Californian dream pop that just hangs in the air and coruscates. It’s uplifting, melodic and hook-strewn pop that demands a hearing. It dwarfs the flipside ‘August Moon’, even though the latter is another great melodic fuzzy pop tune. This is a revelation.
