Blood Gets Thin Little Teddy Recordings 7”

Pete & The Pirates: Jennifer

Information on this is hard to find but this seems to be fresh product on an independent German label ahead of their second album. It sounds they’ve been on the Charles Atlas programme to toughen up as 'Jennifer' kicks off memorably with a big, scything guitar sound and carries on joyfully in their catherine-wheeling quirky-pop style, although the chorus is disappointingly anodyne for them. Better is 'Blood Gets Thin', an intense and claustrophobic tune that walks on the dark side with Franz Ferdinand and the Horrors with its grumbling riffs. All of which suggests good things for that difficult second record.
