The Piney Gir Country Roadshow
I Don't Know Why I Feel Like Cryin' But I Do Truck 7"

Article written by Ged M - Jun 10, 2007

The latest release in the ‘Ten Tune Truck’ series is from Truck’s totemic temptress who's now also been immortalised in comic books. 'I Don't Know Why I Feel Like Cryin' But I Do' has Piney and the Roadshow haunted by the ghost of Patsy Cline. The biblical allusions and mournful drawl of the melodica (sounding as sadly wistful as a train whistle in traditional country songs) conjure up all sorts of 20th century American archetypes that might spring from the pen of Truman Capote or the brush of Edward Hopper. Flip it over for Piney and the Bluegrass Two and the sun is restored again as they cover Albert Hammond's ‘I'm A Train’ with an almost trainspotterish glee. A fine reason, if reason be needed, for pressing vinyl and spending money.
