Having first formed way back in 1990, Sheffield's Repomen could hardly be accused of achieving overnight success. However it's difficult to understand why they haven't made it though when you hear material as good as this. Star is a forthright jangly pop jewel with a huge sparkly chorus that captivates from the first listen but the delights don't stop there. Of the three others on offer, the shiniest is the gorgeous melancholic ballad Violet, a song so stirring and lovely that Chris Martin would stab himself in the eye with a rusty screwdriver just for the chance of writing it. Hopefully Denzil Watson's rich and silky voice won't remain in obscurity for another 18 years.
