She & Him: In The Sun

The song was written by Zooey Deschanel and it sounds as if she’s taken inspiration from all her favourite songs and lumped them together: 60s pop radio, country ballads and showtunes, with M Ward adding some weird effects to the outro. It’s a slightly indigestible medley but what rescues it from an overload of ideas is a great chorus, like a bit fat orgasm of creamy pop, involving Tilly & The Wall. This harmony pop is fun and inoffensive, without being really gripping.
