Sleepy Sun - Marina

If you attempt to combine three tracks into one, then you're bound to risk overboiling your egg if you insist on combining it with breakfast duties. Naturally Sleepy Sun end up with a very hard chuckie indeed with Marina as it veers between stoner proggery, sweet folk, more stoner proggery, tribal hoedown and finally yet more stoner proggery over its six and a half minutes. Unfortunately it's the, ahem, stoner proggery that really makes me decide to have Corn Flakes instead, as layers of droning bluesy guitars are heaped over, er, more layers of droning bluesy guitars. Much is made of their Californian origins but there's too little sunshine here fighting to get through the cloud of psychedelic fug. Horses is more of a lighter in the air soulful effort but still has me checking my watch twice during its relatively short four minutes. Leave this one for the Mojo masturbators.
