T.O.Y.S
EP2 Odd Box Records

Article written by Ged M - Jan 2, 2013

T.O.Y.s are a trio made up of ex-Manhattan Love Suicides (Adam John Miller and Eddy Lines) and an Anguish Sandwich (David Kitchen). Their space-age pop races along on pulsing waves of baby Yamaha keyboard and fuzzy bass, while the drums provide rocket-up-the-arse propulsion on the Stereolabby ‘Dopplegänger’ and the melodic Krautrock-inspired ‘Make Luv’. Inevitably, six tracks in this format becomes a little samey but the likes of the super-rhythmic throbpop ‘Mirror’, which sounds like the band falling down flights of stairs but still playing as they do so, makes it well worth you swivelling your earflaps in their direction for a selective sampling.
