Terry Edwards and the Dash
Let’s Surf Sartorial Records 7”

Invited by Robert Lloyd to contribute to a Nightingales tribute album, Terry Edwards rounded up a band and recorded the B-side to the Vindaloo Summer Special single from 1986 (which featured Fuzzbox and the great Ted Chippington, among others). Now 'Let's Surf' is out on vindaloo-coloured vinyl and is brilliant-but-mental surf-rock (rhyming “swelter” with “melt her”), featuring crazy rhythms and a psychotic sax break. The flipside is ‘Old Man’s Hands’, one of Darren Hayman’s January Songs, another well-observed Hayman tale with a shuffly beat and Terry Edwards’ mournful trumpet adding to the sense of melancholy.
