The second single from Jersey band The Author clatters along at a scorching pace, propelled by spiky guitars and fizzing keyboards. It’s very XfM friendly, a super melodic power pop anthem, though the lyrics are darker than the music: “in this generation , it sounds laissez faire/ all of your friends carry switchblades”. It’s catchy post-Libs rock’n’roll but thankfully no sign of the ‘Shoreditch twat’ about them.
