The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart
Everything With You Fortuna Pop!

Article written by Ged M - Nov 17, 2008

If he were still around, Peel would be championing The Pains… Styling themselves “perpetual teenagers”, their faith in the restorative power of pop music would have given the old man a big (teenage) kick. ‘Everything With You’ is essential indiepop, breathless C-86-style guitar pop with boy/girl vocals heard through a wash of dirty fuzz. The self-titled flipside is an anthem to the indestructible power of pop music, Kip and Peggy’s “we will never die” chant like a permanent graffiti on pop’s front door. Think of early Wedding Present and My Bloody Valentine for comparisons but above all remember the excitement that it’s possible to feel about a band and their music, and then you’ll understand the Pains of Being Pure At Heart.
