‘Critical Mass’ sounds like a cross between some early 90s Miami band playing in a garden at a party attended by tanned fellas in white suits, nodding their bouffanted heads to the beat, and a Boomtown Rats b-side. Then, halfway through, they go all angry T-Rex on us. The flip, presumably entitled ‘Dear Maniac’, is a manic, more rocky number, bringing Eddie and the Hot Rods to mind. In summary, there’s a bit of everything in here – and not all good.
