The Wave Pictures
I Love You Like A Madman

Lo-fi rock’n’roll from the same planet as Jonathan Richman and Herman Dune, with eccentric lyrics to match: “I’ll buy you bras instead of pickled eggs…next time I remember your birthday” sings Dave Tattersall playfully. Slightly unconventional, where bright splashes of trumpet and trombone mark the choruses, it’s also incredibly catchy. In ‘Holding Hands’, all the anger and angst in the song boils up and burns out in a fantastic, frantic guitar solo – Tom Verlaine at a million miles per hour – before everything’s still. That low rumble you hear is the blogs talking about the Wave Pictures – one of the bands of 2008.
