Wild Beasts: We Still Got The Taste Dancing On Our Tongues

Their archness and the falsetto (Hayden Thorpe starts the single with a Tarzan call) can be an acquired taste but this single is an easy way in. It builds gently to the point where you really warm to its sensual rhythms and earthy lyrics, and then you're stung by its swooning chorus. The album whence it sprung (Two Dancers) was over-praised but this is one of the best things on it, its mix of Associates-style vocals and early U2-style glacial guitar making it linger a long time in the memory-box.
