For their CD mini-album, the Worcester three piece force a collision between smooth Stokes rhythms and grittier Kings of Leon-style blues riffs, then reassemble the smashed shards in their own individual image, adding throat-shredding vocals and odd time changes to make it their own. The ska-beat of ‘Someone Else’ is a bit too popular with a certain style of band for comfort but former single ‘Religion’ stands out for its spiky rhythms and there are strange travelogues in ‘Brick Lane’ and ‘Amsterdam’. These compress their energy into tight zig-zag movements that speak of an education in blues and the back alleys of rock’n’roll as well as the more typical Britpop. It’s raw, and Adam Hickman’s voice could have a little more range than his usual yelp, but this doesn’t let up the energy or pace for a second.
