Beefheart could play a mean harmonica. See especially "Nowadays a Woman's Gotta Hit a Man" and "Long Necked Bottles" (both on The Spotlight Kid).

But, of course, for proper harp playing you can't beat those old black guys out of Chicargo in the 50s: Howlin' Wolf and Sonny Boy Williamson are particularly great. See also Sonny Terry, whose "Whoopin' the Blues" is currently being used on the Eon wind farm ad.
