Having wasted time on their Delhi technical support desk I then rang a general customer support number based in Scotland. I explained that I had just had a shoddy service and wanted to speak to someone in Britain who could give me an answer. After a little provarication I was promised a local call back. Local guy rings back 20 mins later and proper advice is received and problem fixed. Call was normal BT rate charge and my 18 minutes talking to Delhi was refunded and no engineer visit was needed.
If everyone kicked up a fuss and insisted on bypassing the foreign call centres or moved to those companies that are committed to local ones they'd soon bring the jobs back.
