When was the last time you defragmented the hard drive, tidied up the registry or got rid of all those temporary files? I would do that as well - try opening in safe mode and use the windows inbuilt tools to do so. What o/s do you have as well?
Once that is done I would download CCCleaner and Speed Defrag and carry that out on a regular basis. If I had a pound for the amount of PC's I have fixed in this way I could buy a round for the whole SXP board! And a packet of crisps each as well.
