Venues are still to be confirmed - but we'll be running from 2pm-midnight each day. There might be a 'disco' on the Sunday night, too (and it's a bank holiday on the Monday, so no excuses for not staying out and throwing some drunken shapes!).
I can announce the first band today:
The Wednesday Club - http://thewednesdayclub.org/
The Wednesday Club began as a bedroom based recording project in 2004, expanding in 2007 to a full band. The product of 3 distinct singer/songwriters each bringing their own spin on indie-pop, but coming together through a shared love of the absurd. Often filtering bleak subject matter through catchy, concise pop songs and informed by a belief that clever and stupid are equally valid methods of expression.
In 2009 Odd Box released their 3rd LP 'Katapult'. They never got to tour that record and their live shows are as rare as hen's teeth. They will be playing 'Katapult' in it's entirety (we'll see if that pans out). We pressed 200 of these CDs and until recently it was thought to be sold out. But doing some Odd Box stock taking we found a box of 25. They will be on sale at the Weekender.
In 2011 the band returned with TWO related albums - Sour Crow and So Claw both released on Cath'n'Dad Records. 20 songs in total. Utterly compelling and they are available on a pay what you want basis from Cath'N'Dad Records .
The band are set to release their new album 'Passing Strange' again on Cath'N'Dad Records fairly soon. This band are one of those lost gems. The diamonds that glint in the dirt.
