Hmm. The sending-off was harsh, though he did jump into it. Same with the pen, really - Saha made a meal of it, but it's Ben Haim's fault for trying to block him off with his arm (and Chelsea's fault for buying such a bog-standard defender).

Personally, though, I thought the ref was just trying to make things a bit more interesting having realised that the likes of the Rags and Chelsea were hardly going to be as entertaining as the earlier game on Sky...

I thought it was a weird game, actually. Even Ferg came close to admitting that the sending off was unjust and ruined the game … Joe Cole should have been sent off twice and Rooney was bloody lucky too

The one plus for me was Carrick .. probably his best game in a U-nited shirt to date (why Tevaz got man of the match, I’ve no idea)

Aside from the result, the highlight for me was the shot of Abromovich and Kenyon sitting forlornly in the Manchester rain wondering where it all went wrong … Ah, bless…

The shots of Van Basten and SGE sat in the directors box was interesting too. I assume SGE was there to watch Chelsea as we face them in a few weeks time and not because he's about as trustworthy as a used car salesman...

Tevez got man of the match because idiots run these awards. He was rubbish. Still should be a slightly more interesting season. The top 4 will remain the top 4 but Un1ted and Chelsea aren't quite the teams they were, Liverpool and Arsenal have improved and there's plenty of teams around in the 5th to 10th area that will take points off them on their day.

I'm becoming quite confident about defending the trophy now ... have been playing rubbish so far but already second ..

Chelsea are all over the place ... The Arse look good but have no backbone (just wait till those tough winter away games kick in) and Liverpool ... well, that ain't never gonna happen ...
