I seem to remember reading somewhere that Newcastle were canny enough to get all the Northern Rock sponsorship dosh up front (on the basis that no-one would pay after watching them this season).

Of course now that Northern Rock are temporarily a nationalised company, they don’t need to sponsor a club. So I think the Government could replace the “Northern Rock” logo with some sensible advice, like “calm down, la” on Joey Barton’s shirt.

So Jongleurs FC, sorry Newcastle, will probably soon be able to get themselves a new sponsor thereby getting paid twice. We did that when one went under (Eidos?) and Thomas Cook took over.
