Ha ha Kev, I'll be ok. The first few hours were rough can't believe how harsh the world of football management is though. If only we were as harsh with political figure performances.

I can't argue too much with that either. Spurs have looked dull and I quickly got rid of any of their players from my fantasy side when I noticed they weren't too keen on actually getting the ball into the opposition's penalty area, but I still would've given him more time. I guess it depends on who they can get to replace him. Despite everything they're not in a bad position and are still in all cups. Plus each of the top sides has had at least one game this season where they've conceded a shed-load of goals.

Regardless of which players do or do not work out, somebody is responsible for a squad short in some positions and overloaded in others.

AVB clearly didn't sign a lot of those players. And taking into account the £85m they brought in through Bale, Spurs actually spent less than Moyes did on Fellaini alone.

That said, if the chairman has higher ambitions than the manager is delivering - either in results or performance - then it's fair game in my opinion.

They get paid very well, they'll get another job quickly. I don't understand the weird OTT sympathy for sacked managers when viewed in direct comparison at the seething hatred aimed at players who fail. I imagine it has something to do with father figures, or something, whatever.

It's a justified sacking IMO.

Didn't want to see AVB get sacked. Still disagree with the culture of short-termism in football. However, two opinions on the matter:

Firstly, I didn't see the game at the weekend but I saw City vs. Spurs. I was actually taken aback by how poor Spurs were. Like, sitting there in shock at what was happening. Y'know when you're at school and you cobble together a team to play some lads in the year above or something and you get absolutely dicked... it was like that. Never seen such a gulf in class in such a high profile fixture in the Prem.

Secondly, for all his supposed tactical nous, AVB seemed to lack any hint of pragmatism. Great managers adapt the team according to circumstance. AVB persisted with his 'high defensive line' or whatever it is in spite of the fact the players he needed to play that system were injured/unavailable. Good managers adapt the tactic to what they have - no two finer examples than Ferguson and Wenger. AVB seemed to have one idea which he stubbornly stuck to even though it didn't work. He's a chippy, prickly, stubborn presence in interviews too. His playing style seems to follow suit...

That'll be the last we see of him in England anyway. I'll not miss him personally.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Westie. I hate all this knee-jerk stuff and want to see managers given time, even through bad spells. They have a CONTRACT, they should be allowed to see out that contract except in extreme circumstances.

That said, I won't miss him. I've never warmed to him in the way that you do to some managers like Martinez for example.
