I am still listening to that YYY album, and haven't yet tired of it. That review is still pending as soon as I wake up from that awe-induced coma I fell into four or five weeks ago.

I have also been listening a lot to Elliott Smith's Either/Or.

There's plenty of goodies, but not really anything that's absolutely essential. The ones I keep going back to are

Absentee -Schmotime
Monkey Swallows the Universe - Bright Carvings
Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins - Rabbit Fur Coat
Isobell Campbell/Mark Lanegan
Smokers Die Younger - X wants the MEat
the Shooting at Unarmed Men Album may join them

but mostly Mcluskyism which for all that it's a compilation, is effing genius

I've been listening to loads of ska & rocksteady, mostly by the Godfather of ska - Laurel Aitken.

I just won this single on ebay the other day. I'd never even heard the b-side before. It's not ska but should go down great the next time I DJ at a Mod night

Me, I have been mostly listening to:

Rogers Sisters - The Invisible Deck

one of the bestest artrocky bands, love it

Tapes 'n' Tapes - loon

I do like it but there's something that doesn't sit right with me

Flipron - Biscuits for Cerberus

fab album full of lyrical wit and great tunes

Hot Puppies - crooked moon

great classic sounding songwriting and beefy instrumentation.

CSS - CSS

kinda fun electro guitary pop

TV on The Radio - Return To Cookie Mountain

not listened to this much but it sounds like a more rounded album than the first.

Beirut - Gulag Orkestar

stunning album thats bereft of guitars, which makes a nice change.

The Veg Club - VEGC

...quite similar to the Rogers actually, in a three piece girl harmonies artrocking way. I mostly like the album but theres a couple of tracks that annoy me a little.


... I seem to have been on a bit of a CD shopping spree these last few weeks.. I hope I'm not turning into 50 quid man.
