Easily one of the best British debut singles of the last 30 years - from one of the best debut albums of all time. Yes, they went to complete and utter shite, but they were fuckin' outstanding when they broke through.

Out and out classic, and I'm fookin mad fer it.

In Horses' defense - I was 14 when that album came out and got into the band beforehand when the singles were being released - Including Supersonic. I loved them then. That first album had a few great tracks (Slide Away being an example) as well as a few stinkers (Digsy's Dinner, Married With Children), and I never saw the fuss in Cigarettes and Alcohol. To laddy for me. But I liked the album and band.

I got given their second album for Christmas... I gave it away. Didn't like it at all and never got back into them.

If I had to pick a track off the debut, I'd have gone for Slide Away or Columbia or something though - Supersonic would sit about mid-table for me out of those songs.
