I would love to review Field Day for you. Nothing would give me greater delight then to tell you about the 1 hour 40 minutes I waited to get in; my pulsing rage as I heard the 1990s and The Aliens from the wrong side of the fence; the hour and 2 minutes I queued for the toilets; the 12 deep scrum at the bar; the five pounds I paid for some 'vegetarian' noodles that were cold, minging and had clearly just had the chicken scraped off them; the terrible stage placing and pathetic PAs, and how finally, faced with another hour queue for the toilet or a 20 minute walk home I choose the latter, but, as there was no re-admission, I cannot.

Strangely, the website I wrote this for won't print it.

And yes Westie, I did take your sister. Now, she hates me.

You're all being mean. It was a virgin festival - it always hurts first time and is messy. Next year it's gonna be brilliant because they are gonna take their mistakes and learn by them. At least they had the balls to say sorry and recognise the short falls. Unlike JA, i'm going next year because of what happened and its aftermath. In five years time it will be the festival to go to...but i'm not putting my life on that...

How long were you in the toilet?! I don’t want to be negative but I also don’t think you can excuse bad planning and a lack of organisation just because people are a bit indie or it's their first time (and saying sorry to someone is easier when you're sitting on £22.50 of their hard-earned). It’s not only the fans who lose out – by all accounts the bands had a really bad time and didn’t get to show themselves adequately. If festivals like Latitude or Secret Garden or Tapestry can manage to charge and put on a decent show, why couldn’t Field Day? If the organisers of Field Day had worries about the site, they shouldn’t have raised the capacity to 10,000.

The problem this year is that there are too many festivals and not enough decent festival organisers. It will be no loss if a few of them like Field Day disappear (and do you think there’ll be a second year after this one?). Even if they do, I think there are enough decent fests that will survive and provide an alternative to the behemoths.

That does sound negative but getting screwed by your own team is as bad as by the opposition. (I wish I had an emoticon for that!)
