Yeah I only joined up to get the Pixies track! As for bitrates my hearing is crap but Mrs Bola can sometimes hear the difference between a low bitrate file and say a CD or vinyl copy. I am sure it concerns other people especially as Real's store has 192 k/bits files. I agree - these people can be bloody anal!!! As for the DRM here a quick look tells me I cannot convert to another format unless I burn to CD first then rerip, restrictions on how many computers you can play the files on and limits on burning the CD's (I think). Still it's better than the OD2 service over here in the UK who charge you extra if you want to burn their crappy wma files to a CD - once you have already bought it first place! Anyway who needs Itunes? I popped in on Russia's and purchased high quality mp3's (320 k/bits) with no restrictions of the latest PJ Harvey, Morrissey, Beastie Boys and Miss Kitten Albums. Cost me $8 (approx £5)! Would have been cheaper if I chose to have the mp3's encoded from a lossy source (they use 384 k/bits mp3) instead of direct from CD and at a lower bitrate. Each album would have cost about a $ in that case!!! |

That Russian service is more illegal than Morrissey in a Speedo... I'm just waiting for the scam to get shut down by someone, 'cause not a penny from that service finds its way to an artist. It's playing fast and loose with a complete lack of copyright enforcement in Russia and artists' work. Get 'em while you can, I guess ![]() The DRM for iTunes is about a billion times less restrictive than that others we've got over here... jaysus, Micro$haft wants you to pay to rent the tunes for a limited time, for feck's sake, and you're using their retched WMA format! It kills me, some of these "services" and their limitations. The trick with iTunes, of course, is to simply burn a copy, and rerip it... done and done, though that does technically violate their agreement. However, unless your making pirate copies of albums and selling them, I can't see the harm in it. Funny, I almost posted on here about that Pixies track, since it's been up for ages, but the Euro/UK iTunes store wasn't up yet, so I didn't bother. ![]() Glad you folks can give it a whirl now... they did better than 600,000 tracks in the first week, so it's doing okay, I'd say. |

If anyone would ask me which social agency in London I would recommend, I would have no hesitation in saying that http://blondelondonescort.co.uk. I have visited many times and every time I visit with a smile on my face. |
