I had a blinding time actually. Left Kings of Leon early and went to see The Bees instead who were excellent, stayed in the new tent afterwards to see Spiritualized but I'm afraid I just didn't have the patience for it and left after about 20 minutes (although I'd be interested to know why Jason was sitting down the whole time - does anyone know?) Other highlights were The Stands, The Divine Comedy (who incidently did a cover of no-one knows - Queens of the Stone Age using a banjo, accordian and keyboard!!) I thought Supergrass were really good and I've never really been much of a fan of them, I was also forced to reassess what I thought of Franz Ferdinand and Keane - I don't know whether it's seeing them live in a festival setting or what but I was really blown away. James Brown and Macca were OK, Morrissey was a bit disappointing frankly, I found my concentration drifting and then I became fixated by this odd thing he was doing with his mouth every two minutes. I was also a bit disppointed that I couldn't get into the New Tent to see The Killers - the crowds were spilling at least 10 deep outside of the tent and I couldn't hear or see anything. I would definitely go back next year, mud was fine as long as you were prepared and what field isn't going to get muddy when it rains when over 100,000 people trample through it? I thought the facilities were fine, the loos were emptied and cleaned er......... fairly regularly. The introduction of the 'shee-pees' (female urinals) this year was an excellent move. There were loads of food stalls and bars and clothes stalls etc plus if there's a spot where there aren't any bands you want to go and check out you could always go and see some comedy, or maybe go to the leftfield and get involved in a debate. There's loads on and it is impossible to get bored. I think it's important to point out that I've been to V and also to Reading before and I really enjoyed those too - I guess I'm just easily pleased! |

Female urinals? Blimey you'll be wanting the vote next... ![]() Interested in that, Divine Comedy cover of No One Knows, Beanie. Original's superb obviously so to hear a bunch of fops do it intrigues me. |

A daming letter about Eavis in today's Independent. Eavis was quoted as saying " it's fantastic" that he has seen "no hippie/traveller" convoys at this years Glastonbury. The letter writer was reminded him that without such people to festival would not exist today. He also said that people who were at the roots of such festivals are now under attack by more legislation than ever before giving examples. The letter writer finishes with " that Michael Eavis can directly counterance this marks a sad end to the original festival spirit". Maybe Eavis (or his daughter who organises most of it now) have been bitten by Vince Power's Mean Fiddler capitalist enterprises after all!? |
