Apologies if this is old news. There's been a number of rumours floating around the web over the last few days that they've gone bankrupt, but apparently they "categorically deny" this. However, they shut all 50 of their stores on Friday for "stocktaking" and have suspended web sales. Now they are only accepting cash in their shops.. Not really surprised to be honest, given the state of the music retail on the high street, was always going to be a high risk strategy to try and compete with the big boys. Also, I've always wondered how many proper indie stores have become casualties of their rather aggressive expansion. Still, those cheap dvds....[/u] |

I'm well up for it, Bola. I were dead jealous reading it and the lads' responses. I want in even though i'm a girl - and I can't eat the Salt Beef Bagel and the curry would have to be veggie. I can do the pint or five for sure so if i'm not working that day can I come and shop with you indie experts? |
