Have just recieved word that the greatest living film director is no longer living. Looking for some confirmation on this, but I am very saddened by this. |

Bergman's dead? Shiiiiiiiiiit. And I was gonna invest heavily in that Artificial Eye 'Bergman Series'... bollocks. They'll be repackaged and made expensive now... Anyway, erm, that's a petty concern ennit... No doubt he'll be remembered as 'the greatest artist to sit behind a camera' or something... It's a sad day. |

It's official, though he was very frail so it's unsurrising. Maybe this reissue of The Seventh Seal and the BBC's Bergman night were well timed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6921960.stm |

Missed it I'm afraid, BBC4 had a few documentaries and interviews with him the week they put Seventh Seal on release in cinemas earlier this month. |

Ah ain't got BBC4 so I'd have missed the bastard anyway... I did note The Seventh Seal's general release. I wonder how many people have gone to the cinema wanting to see Transformers and on finding it's sold out have gone "ooh let's go see that instead..." Cracking film it is, and incredibly accessible too given it's position in the arthouse canon... |

Shittin' hell Antonioni's gone now... The most revered 20th Century European directors are dropping like flies. Who's next? Godard? ![]() |
