Indeed. Sven was shouting angrily from the touchline, apparently. Had he been supping some loony juice with the Citeh fans before the match? As for the Toon's "championship contenders" performance, I suspect that Bolton's next few games will put it into perspective - the White Men's Burden is going to prove too much for them this season, methinks. Still, I'm enjoying it while I can. We. Are. Top of the league, say we are top of the league.... |

Watched the City and Spurs matches online. City seemed to gel immediately which I didn't expect in view of the six debut starts (five of whom have only just moved to the country). Elano, Richards and even Hamman were terrific. West Ham's nervousness helped (they still miss Ashton who was only a late entry yesterday) and I suspect they'll be glad to get away from Upton Park - the boos were very audible at half time - HALF TIME of your first game of the season ffs. Give them a chance! Spurs were a bit clueless, and their only inventiveness came from Keane and Berbatov who had Nosworthy and McShane to pass (both of whom were great). A poor game to watch though Chopra's finish was better than I expected for a player with only 1 Prem goal to his name prior to yesterday. That's my weekends for the next 9 months sorted... |

Absolutely. Given the choice, I'd still prefer to watch eleven honest and loyal performers who are playing for the love of the game rather than how many baby Bentleys they can fit into their mock Tudor manor's garages, modestly funded by a LIFELONG SUPPORTER whose only desire is to see the club survive/prosper. On this occasion our overpaid bunch of mercenaries outwitted another bunch. The amounts of money spunked up by our respective foreign chairmen since their arrivals have been comparable. |
